What if you were on the cusp of marrying the guy of your dreams and reaching that career goal you set for yourself, only for all of it to be taken away in one fell swoop?
what if this all happened a month before you turned 30? This is the story of Jill Stevens, who after moving back home, finds a list she made in high school of thirty things she wanted to accomplish before her thirtieth birthday.
With a month left and hardly anything crossed off her list, she teams up with old friends to accomplish as much as she can before her big 3-0. Along the way, she discovers her true self and realizes it's not about the material successes in life but the journey.
Alright! I received this lovely book by the amazing author herself! Thank you Courtney for Thirty Days to Thirty. Man oh man do I have a lot to say about this book!
It has humor, romance, adventure, anger, loss, and so much more rolled into a book that's less than 300 pages. When I got to the ending I actually wished that there was a little bit more! What happens after the list?
Right off the bat this story is fast paced. Jill immediately loses everything she has worked towards within the first chapter. How would it continue you might ask? Honestly it never ends. Jill goes through a lot that most people would automatically just call it quits, but for her, she decided to take this downfall and turn it up. She finds this list she made when she was 18, and decides she should go and cross off every item within a month to her birthday.
Throughout the story, there were some parts that I could foresee happening. On the other hand, I was taken aback when some new twists came into view (like with Brady and Chris) Even so, I found that having some things you expect happening, it counteracts the twists, and makes the entire novel so entertaining!
I loved how I could sort of relate to Jill's parents constantly telling her what to do even though she is 29 years old. I get the same thing, and I just know that they are trying to look out for me (and Jill) but sometimes you just need more space. Nothing hurts your ego more than having to move back home to your parents house...
From the beginning when Jill moves back home I could tell that something was going to happen with Chris, and although I didn't expect what were to come out of it along the way, I can totally see how Chris is the right man to go for. He is sweet, caring, and above all will drop it all to help the person he loves, even if that means risking his job. Most people aren't that brave to just say F-it and leave their job over a loved one, simply because they are more work driven, and care about the materialistic things. (which is the entire thing about this story)
Also while reading this, I got a sense that this was or could become a Lifetime movie. I could totally see this being played out, because it's something that is relatable, and speaks to a lot of people from all angles. Someone should be getting on that!! **Wink, wink**Nudge, Nudge**
Lastly I do have to say that Jill really grew up in this story. I know that because she is almost 30, it means that she has it all together, but truth is, who ever has it ALL together?? She finally realized that life is more important and surrounding yourself around those who love you, is the biggest accomplishment than any job.
Overall I really loved this book, and I could not believe some of the things that went down in it. (like Brady towards the end) There was so much going on, and I just could not stop reading this book. The Love, Courage, Roller coasters that Jill and her family and friends endured was just amazing, and a beautiful story. Courtney Psak did a great job, and I cannot wait to read anything new that she has coming out!
And that is all for my review of Thirty Days to Thirty, I hope you all enjoyed it!
So until the next time, Keep Reading!
